10/20/10 book club

10/20/10
-----------
Alright so if you haven’t guessed already, this section of the nb is about books.  Right now it’s a list of the books I’ve read, books I want to read, and books I want to discuss.  If you run out of room (or if I run out of room), just find an empty space to continue.  That’s the fun of this section.  So… I recently finished reading a book, but I’m a little unsure of what I want to do with it.  I mean, do I make it into a book club book or not?  I guess we could pick books that already have questions.  But where’s the fun in that?  Okay. Here’s what I wrote:
“Am reading the book My Side of the Mountain. Not sure if I wanted to put it as a book club book, but I thought it was quite good and wanted to at least write a book report about it.  I’m not even finished with this book and already I love it.  It’s about this boy who lives in a tiny apartment with his parents and 7 siblings.  his dad is always telling him stories about the old family farm and he decides that he wants to go find it and live there.
It starts out kind of grisly, in the dead of winter.  And then the story goes backwards all the way to the beginning where he thought up the idea to run away.  Throughout the book ur just amazed by what he’s accomplished (making a home out of a tree, training a falcon, making a bed, a door, clothes, and a fireplace) and you can’t wait to read what he thinks of next.  The part I am truly amazed by is how all these animals around him seem to accept him as one of their own.  His best friend is a falcon named Frightful, who he captured out of a nest when she was just a baby.  This bird loves him and thinks of him as her family, which I think is truly amazing.
Also, when he met the old man in the woods who turned out to be a teacher, he didn’t know how much he missed human companionship until the man left (summer vacation was almost over).  But as he was about to cry, his friend the weasel bit him and they chased each other back to his camp.  He turned the inside of a hollow tree into his house and learned to preserve food and make clothing out of animal fur.  I can’t wait to see how this book turns out.”

And this is the rest of my report:
“Finished the rest of this book.  I didn’t realize there were other books, and I’m glad because I was so bummed to have it end.  Basically what happens is he starts to realize that he misses people.  I got to wondering what was going to happen to Frightful, the falcon.  Was she going to stay with her human friend or was she going to spread her wings and fly?  Luckily I get to find that out.  At the end of the book, the boy’s family came to him.  They said that if he wasn’t coming back to them, they would come to him.  So the whole family is now going to rebuild the old family farm.  I can’t wait to read the next book!

Hey Chels Bells!
So… in a weird way I sort of miss the diary but there is a lot more room to “stretch,” so to speak.  I don’t have to cut almost every word in half.
So… I slept late.  And when I say late I mean till almost 2.  ugh my sleep is all mess up.  Not good!  Anyway, I have to turn in my timesheet and I really don’t want to drive because I still haven’t gotten my new tags.  My mom was supposed to help me but I doubt she is going to.  So I have to wait for my paycheck to get here and if it doesn’t come either today or tomorrow, then I’m screwed.  On the other hand, I don’t have to give the car people my whole paycheck anymore.  Yay me!
So…. how are you feeling?  Whenever someone dies (at least in my experience), the first week is the hardest.  I usually cry my heart out and then as the weeks go by it gets easier.  {wow… insensitive much?  Jeez, Rita.  lol}
Alright, I should get going.  I have to turn in my timesheet and then pick up pictures.  I think today I’m gonna study for a while and then work on more nbs.  Got a lotta stuff to accomplish in like 2 days… plus tomorrow I have to pack and clean up the bottom of the turtle tank.

<3,
me
