~book review~

Vampire kisses series

This is the first book in a series of 7 books. The writing is kind of... Stupid... But it was short enough to where it was tolerable at least. It's about this girl who has been obsessed with vampires at least since she was 5 and she lives in this town where that's not really tolerated so she has only one friend. She gets grilled everyday by this guy named Trevor whose dad owns a lot of businesses in town. She is a little spitfire though... She stands up for basically everyone. She becomes enamored with this guy who moves into the mansion in town and everyone says the family is filled with vampires. There's things that are a bit obvious but he hasn't said either way whether or not he is a vampire. So far it's a cute story and I'm giving the next book a try but if it doesn't get any better, I'm not reading the rest. It's just... I know I found this in the teen section but I feel like at least the first book should be in the youth section or something.

More tomorrow!!

kissing coffins

So, this book was way better than the first one. In this book, Raven hunts for her vampire boyfriend in a town that her aunt lives in. He moved away to protect her but of course she couldn't tell anyone where he was or why he left so she just decided to look for him herself and along the way she ran into this other guy who is seeking revenge on Alexander. I guess they were born vampires but the guy's sister was human so Alexander and this girl were supposed to get married and spend all of eternity together but he couldn't do it so he left and the other guy's family took it personally. So, the guy tries to bite Raven but Alexander comes back to save her and she's starting to realize just how much she has to give up to be with him. I see some similarities between this and Twilight, but not much. The secret keeping, the obsession with the supernatural, his diet (he calls himself a vegetarian also). But he is allergic to garlic, can't come out during the day and casts no reflection. I'm pretty sure he's going to end up having to change her, but he loves her for her, which is sweet.

Vampireville
------------
This series is turning out to be okay, I still miss the twilight vampires sparkling and not being allergic to garlic, but this was written before that series came out, anyway lol. So, in this book, raven has to pretend she is a vampire to evade this brother and sister vampire set that came all the way from Romania so that Luna can finally get Alexander, the one who got away. As you recall, Alexander pretended to bite Raven in the last book so Jagger and Luna would believe that she was part of the undead so that Jagger would stop trying to bite Raven himself. So, they started hanging out with Trevor, Raven's nemesis and Raven thought that they were going to turn him into a vampire and got all paranoid when he was "sick from school". She kept trying to check on him but of course he thought that she was in love with him and she have him garlic gel-caps and told him they were an aphrodisiac so if Luna got too close she would get an allergic reaction from it. They also had to find Jagger and Luna's coffins and hide them so they had nowhere to hide but back in Romania, and they found them in Raven's brother's friend's treehouse. They tried to get them out of there but the coffins had been nailed in. So... Luna was trying to be all nice to Raven and for a minute she felt like they could really be friends, but at the end of course Luna ruined it. There was to be a covenant ceremony in the graveyard that Jagger had put together and of course Trevor thought it was some big bash and make out session that Raven wasn't invited to but of course she and Alexander were going anyway to protect Trevor. So... Knowing this, Luna bets on Alexander pretending to be Trevor while Raven gets him out of the cemetery and Luna says that it was Alexander she's wanted all along and the person Raven is trying to save isn't Trevor, but Jagger who then tries to bite her but she gets away at the last minute.

Onto the next book!!
Not sure if I want to finish this series...  The next villain is an 11  year old vampire. I think that's my cue to stop reading, lol.

Dance with a vampire
--------------------
So, I decided to read this one anyway. It turned out pretty good. It's funny, no matter which vampires I'm reading about, I always think back to the Cullens. In this book, the 11 year old vampire is looking for his older siblings. He is also what they call a soul reader, kind of like Aro in the Volturi who could read every single thought that a person has ever had. He was trying to bond Raven's brother to him for all eternity. And apparently, Trevor really does like Raven in "that" way and the only reason why he went for Luna was because she reminded him of her. But he's so mean to her! It's funny, Bella had no problem keeping the Cullen's true identity a secret, in fact she preferred to hang out with them as opposed to her human friends. But she never felt close enough with anyone to even begin to want to open up to them. Now, Raven has a best friend who she's known her whole life and she's dying to tell her this secret, but she knows that if she told Becky then she'd either face ridicule or she would have just outed her soulmate.
Another thing is that it's one thing to dream of becoming a part of the undead when nothing dark or spooky scares you. But it's a completely different thing when it's a reality. I'm sure Bella Swan didn't wake up one day at 5 and just decide she was going to join the undead. She fell in love with a vampire and wanted to be linked to him for all eternity. And this Raven chick has been obsessed with being a vampire her whole life. But now that it has a chance of happening for real, she's realizing what she'd be giving up. It's the same thing Bella was afraid of giving up but since she was turned by Edward, she became strong but without the usual bloodlust. So maybe if this girl got turned it would be the same? I'm not sure if this girl is ever becoming a vampire though but I have 3 more books to find that out. Oh and they went to their prom and everyone kept wanting to take pictures of Alexander and Raven but it didn't work. And the funniest part is that Raven's brother was trying to figure out if his new friend, Valentine, was indeed a vampire when Raven herself did warn him that he was trouble.

Alright... So I guess I shall give the next book a chance. Sweet.
