I'm a fighter

Fighter by Christina Aguilera
------------------------------
Never, saw it coming
all of your backstabbing
just so you could cash in on a good thing
before I realized your game
I heard you're going round
playing the victim now
but don't, even begin
feeling I'm the one to blame
cause you dug your own grave
after all of the fights and the lies
yes you wanted to harm me but that won't work anymore

Uh, no more, oh no, it's over
cause if it wasn't for all of your torture
I wouldn't know how to be this way now
and never back down
so I wanna say thank you
cause it makes me that much stronger
makes me work a little bit harder
makes me that must wiser
so thanks for making me a fighter
made me learn a little bit faster
made my skin a little bit thicker
it makes me that much smarter
so thanks for making me a fighter

We finally have a meaning from Chels Bells!!  She wrote:
All the nasty things this person did made her stronger and helped her fight for her life.

I've always applied it to me. EVeryone seems to try and bring me down, but I am here and still fighting.

My meaning: I remember the first time I heard this song.  I was driving home from breaking up with Mike for the first time.  I was crying... and I had Anakin in the car with me and he was underneath the seat.  I drove all the way home and I was turning into my street when I was like... wow I like this song.  But I really wasn't paying attention to it.  My dad bought me the cd and a week later I was back with Mike and I was driving with Terri to see the new house and the cd was on... and then it came back with me when I left for the second time... then my dad got sick and I had taken over driving my dad's car and that's when I really started to love this song.  I would drive to school taking the long way just looking at the scenary listening to the cd.  That's when I really got into it.

Babyseat by Barenaked Ladies
----------------------------
You can't live your life in the baby seat
you've got to stand on your own
don't admit defeat
you can't live your life in the baby seat
you've got to stand on your own
don't admit defeat
40 days at sea
then she turned and said to me
"if we make it back
I'll renounce Jack Kerouac
And all that romantic crap
Like I'm an artist don't look back"
Now we're living somewhere else
we keep opinions to ourselves
but still we seek a sneaky peak at heaven
when the working week defeats us
if you think growing up is tough
then you're just not grown enough, baby

My meaning: this song reminds me of many family trips to Door County and Savannah, IL with my parents.  Camping, hiking, campfires, sightseeing, relaxing, shopping... all that fun stuff.

Chel's meaning: Here is a good song for me.  It says not to be too scared to take risks, not to be dependent on others and that growing up is tough but everyone does it.
